Retro Record Players - Best Thing Since Slice Bread

!±8± Retro Record Players - Best Thing Since Slice Bread

My wife and kids can't see the beauty of my retro record player. The thing is great, it was the pioneer for music back in the 70s, and they just think I've got some wired obsession. I can understand my kids not liking the record player, but my wife has followed them with iPods and using the PC for listening to music. She not much younger than me, up to date with technology is her thing. She tells me that any thing that will make life easy is great. I suppose opposites attracts. I really aspirate the older look of products. There always clunky, and quite quirky.

We both love music, so I guess that's why I fuss about the retro record player. For me you can compare anything to my old player. I just love the way they work. If you don't think that they look elegant in their own way then you really can't understand real beauty.

You can get clear sound from mp3, but records have their own unique sound. Yeah, they look big and bulky, but hay their real man built mechanical products. You can listen to you're mp3, CD or iPod, but there just a piece of plastic that makes noise and you really don't see the work that goes into making the sound that's playing. Their just music boxes that make music, even old music jewellery boxes have more action going on. But retro record players are so different. You'll see the work a needle does when tracing over the shell of a record. Every little bit of dirt, dust and scratch can be heard which makes up that real analogy sound. When you really hear music playing on these machines then you'll understand why I love these music players. Best way to listen is at 45rpm. This is just perfect.

It's great seeing a more physical item working. Digital sound is great and has its place, but will never compare to the real sound created from retro record players. Once the wife hears the retro record player playing, she go's nuts. She won't ever understand my obsession for this old machine. But she understands the sentimental value of it. For her it's all about being practical. She loves the new devices because of the efficiently that they provide doing a better job. But i just love the history that older equipment has. Bigger and more affective newer items will always come into the market. My personal option is if you want the raw sound and physical processes of a retro record player, then look around for one and when you find it, buy it because theirs going to be a time when you'll not find one, so you can appreciate the real beauty of a retro record player.
